📋 UGC NET Exam Structure
The exam is conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and consists of two papers without any break.
- Paper I: General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. This is mandatory for all candidates.
- 50 questions | 100 Marks | 1 hour
- Paper II: Subject-Specific Paper (based on the subject chosen by the candidate).
- 100 questions | 200 Marks | 2 hours

✅ Eligibility & Purpose
Minimum Eligibility
You must hold a Master’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of:
- 55% marks for General/Unreserved/EWS candidates.
- 50% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates.
- Candidates in the final year of their Master’s program are also eligible to apply provisionally.
Age Limit
- For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship): Maximum age is 30 years (with relaxations for reserved categories as per rules).
- For Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.
